Present in the room
Photo-only coverage of the launch of the Joint Code of Practice for Mental Health in Construction — hosted at The Crown Estate, London.
The brief
A Friday-morning call for a Tuesday-morning event. The construction industry was launching its Joint Code of Practice on mental health at The Crown Estate's London offices, and the team wanted a photographer in the room. The recommendation came from Mates in Mind, the workplace mental-health charity, off the back of an earlier commission — four days later I was there.
The work
A morning of keynotes, panel discussion, roundtables and connection between leaders from across construction — photographed quietly and candidly, without staging. Given the subject matter, the coverage stayed tasteful and general: the room, the conversations, the moments between people rather than at them. The edit was delivered as a titled series — each frame named for what it holds.
The result
146 edited images, delivered within two days of the event — a complete record of a landmark morning for the industry, ready for the client's channels while the moment was still warm.
